Seventy-nine years after the eight days in the Crimea, where Churchill, FDR and Stalin at Yalta crafted what the world would look like from a geopolitical standpoint after Deutschland had so ferociously violated the international order for a “second time” after a relative "1" hundred years of continual peace cemented at the Congress of Vienna some "2" hundred and ten years ago, κόσμος is witnessing and having to deal with the dnouement of an undefined post-Cold War where the Soviet Union, indeed, did crumble yet whose rightful inheritor one Vladímir Putin, arguably, still holds one of the keys to save the world from nuclear holocaust.
Tracing back to 1879, in his "Mixed Opinions and Maxims," Friedrich Nietzsche alluded to, inadvertently one can only "safely" venture to posit, Newton whereby: "Positive and negative. This thinker needs nobody to refute him: for that he suffices himself." Therein, one hundred fourty-five years later, lies Benjamin "Bibi", born 21 October 1949, Netanyahu's dilemma: whether to escalate and retaliate in light of Iran's harrowing wave of more than 300 drones, cruise and ballistic missiles or seek an alternative non-preemptive approach (seemingly implausible at this juncture) that could very well threaten the People of Israel's very existence.
Privy to the (1) oxymoronic spirit of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, Israel has openly adhered to an ambiguous diplomatic stance on the use of its estimated 80 to 400 nuclear warheads with multiple delivery methods; diplomatic being the keyword for the de facto stance is definite ever since the completion in 1967 of its primis nuclear weapon: to safeguard the integrity and territory of the People of Israel from its feinde while pursuing a consistent strategy of (2) preemptive strikes regionally; a legitimate outlook when harked back to the rise and fall of The Third Reich.
Admittedly, the au Courant with the regional Arab-Israeli conflict, which dates back to 1948, has gained traction as a result of Iraq, Syria and Yemen joining forces with the terrorist-sponsoring Iran. Those who remain hopeful and seek to dilly-dally in wishful thinking, bespoken in an immediate cease-fire adamantly called for America, England and France, would do well to refer to Nietzsche's aphorism against mediators for "they lack eyes to see the unparalleled; seeing things as similar" when they are not, have not been for the last seventy-six years and show little or no respect for the likes of Yitzhak Rabin who died defending erroneously, with all due respect, a diplomatic approach that has failed to bear diplomatic fructus not to mention a watershed pivot towards peace.
To quote Leo Tolstoy, "Каждый думает изменить мир, но никто не думает изменить себя," a fervent hobby attributed both openly and behind the curtain to one Vladimir Putin who has meaningfully and continually engaged in Russian Politics since the year one thousand nine hundred and ninety nine, the reader would concur is egregiously appropriate for he seems to be on a collision course with his self-proclaimed manifest destiny to turn back the hands of time and regain some of a Union that was once Soviet. Yet, the current President, Prime Minister at times during the past quarter of a century, has failed to intellectually process the extent to which Tolstoy attributed victory to the call for an ability to adapt, change pivot, if you will, in our ever changing world currently driven by artificial forces that aim to challenge our very own intelligence -- hold that thought, Tim Cook would state for there are guardrails set at Cupertino; driven vehicles, but I digress.
To be specific, Moscow is one hundred and twenty miles from Yasnaya Polyana, the exact location of the house where Leo Tolstoy wrote War in Peace. Much to the astonishment of the reader, the second storey of Tolstoy's literary дворец was added by one Count Nikolai Illyich Tolstoy, who countered Napoleon Bonaparte's invasion in the year eighteen hundred and twelve, III years before the Emperor's demise. Napoleon failed to heed Darwin's call for a "responsive need to change" on the battlefield; and, now, Vladimir must heed the call of duty and both pivot and tame the unprecedented concert of terror - Iraq, Syria and Yemen plus Iran -- for those of us who know and have followed Bibi for over thirty years know that Benjamin Netanyahu will not hesitate "one" iota to escalate and bring the human condition to a nuclear point of no return so as to provide a final solution to the Israeli-Arab conflict.
The author wishes to dedicate this article to the other "Bibi" in his life. The thoughtful, mindful and ever so insightful Estefania Talledo Mayo aka "Bueyo."
(1) Oxymoronic in the sense that Oppenheimer witnessed the initium of the nuclear age in light of the eventual need by man to protect its habitat or "national security," its diplomatic equivalent, when presented with no other rational choice.
(2) Preemptive strikes as defined by "Rummy" the late Secretary of Defense, Donald Henry Rumsfeld, who led the "shock-and-awe" strategy against "One" ruthless dictator, Sadam Hussein, overseen masterfully by President George W. Bush.
